Butterflies And Moths

Butterfly adults are characterized by their four scale-covered wings, These scales give butterfly wings their colour: they are pigmented with melanin’s that give them blacks and browns, as well as uric acid derivatives and flavones that give them yellows, but many of the blues, greens, reds and iridescent colours are created by structural colouration produced by the micro-structures of the scales and hairs.

Moths comprise a group of insects related to butterflies, belonging to the order Lepidoptera. Most lepidopterans are moths, and there are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth
